Merit Clays F166 is an acid-activated bleaching clay engineered for high-efficiency refining of edible oils. It is particularly effective for hard-to-bleach oils with a high content of carotenoids, chlorophyll, phospholipids, peroxides and trace metals.

The sulphate (rather than chloride) activation route keeps chlorides out of the process, reducing the risk of equipment corrosion and the formation of chlorinated by-products. An optimised chemical structure and a highly developed specific surface deliver excellent colour removal even under demanding processing conditions.

Applications

Used both at the bleaching stage after neutralisation and in physical refining processes. The optimal dosage is selected individually — a laboratory jar-test is recommended.
